The terrorist militant group Hezbollah has overrun west Beirut, which is threatening to plunge Lebanon into another all-out civil war.
Hezbollah fighters battled pro-government forces for a third day, as sectarian fighting between Sunnis and Shiites eased somewhat Friday afternoon.
"There are no clashes anymore because no one is standing in the way of the opposition forces," a security official told Agence France Presse on condition of anonymity.
Reports said at least 11 people have been killed and dozens more wounded. Fighting erupted after Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah said a government crackdown on his Iranian- and Syrian-backed group was a declaration of war.
