Cyclone Aid Suspended - [ 7:17 a.m. PST, 09 May 2008 ]
The United Nations suspended aid shipments to the weather-ravaged southeast Asian nation of Myanmar Friday after the ruling military junta there began seizing supplies meant for the country's beleagured citizens.

A UN spokesman said 38 tons of supplies, which included high-energy biscuits, had been confiscated by the government.

At least 62,000 people are dead or missing in Myanmar, also known as Burma. Tens of thousands more are missing; some believe more than 100,000 people have been killed following last week's deadly cyclone.

Reports say a number of bodies floating and rotting in stands of water have been spotted throughout the hardest-hit areas.
